As a part of the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program, the Texas Department of Transportation continues to support the surrounding community with the completed relocation of the existing bike lanes along Old Katy Road. The pre-existing bike lanes were relocated when Old Katy Road was removed to make room for the new westbound IH-10 frontage Road.

New Bike Trail Details

• Construction of 2.35 Miles of a concrete paved Bike Trail
• 2 Pedestrian Bridges
• 2 Lane Bike Trail (5' wide lanes)
• Estimated Construction Cost is $2.5 Million
• Contract Bids were Opened in February 2006 (This contract was re-bid due to ROW acquisition delays)
• Construction began in Spring 2006
• A temporary bike route was installed until the completion of the new bike trail
• Construction completed in Fall 2006 and the formal ribbon cutting was held on October 13 of that year.
• The City of Houston is currently maintaining the Bike Trail.
