Question: If there is a major traffic jam or accident on the mainlanes, will the Katy Tollway be used as an overflow to clear traffic?
Answer: No. Although the general-purpose lanes and toll lanes exist together in the same corridor, the Katy Tollway is a separate operating facility. In the event of an accident or traffic jam, responding law enforcement will implement normal traffic incident/management procedures that involve the closure of affected lanes and/or directing traffic to the frontage roads.
